Values and spiritual education is on of the missing links in the present education system, and this characteristics has a wonderful ability to remove the shortcomings prevailing in the education world and also to create a positive educational environment. The Education Wing of Rajayoga Education and Research Foundation, Brahma Kumaris has presented a curriculum based on values and spiritual education for the new creation of a bright future for the entire humanity. Study of this course develops positive thinking and attitude in life and makes man aware, diligent and truthful towards action and duty.
It was with this elevated goal of human existence that the Brahma Kumaris targeted formal education in schools and colleges, which till now has prepared man only to acquire skills and be able to earn livelihood but it did not attempt to sharpen and bring out one’s inner qualities and virtues that make him a good human being with embellishments of cordiality, sociability, generosity, peace, happiness, purity, divinity etc. In the year 2009 the Brahma Kumaris and the Annamalai University, Annamalai Nagar (TN) signed an MoU to start academic courses of Value Education & Spirituality. This one year course called Post-Graduate Diploma in Value Education & Spirituality is in the distance-education stream and can be pursued by students of India and Nepal. Gradually other courses and universities followed. Now the Brahma Kumaris have MoUs of Value Education courses with as many as 16 universities and 6 autonomous colleges across the country.

Elevated habits are the basis of progress in human life. Enrichment of habits is possible only through values. Values and spirituality based education develops best habits in life. The education system is adopted mainly according to the need of time. Since ancient times, education system has continuously been modified with the changes and demand of time. In the present time of technological, industrial, materialistic and competitive era, where different dimensions and objectives are being developed in the education system, human life is becoming worthless due to lack of values in education. Education based on valueless materialism and competition promotes selfishness, jealousy, ego, greed, corruption and fear. As a result of technology, where the distances around the world are getting erased, at the same time, all of us are getting away from each other.
There is a need for radical change in education, by integrating values in the present day education system. Decline in the level of education leads to decline of the character. Every year in India, many conferences, workshops, seminars etc. are organized for the improvement of education.
The feeling of national unity develops through education. The condition and direction of the society can change only through value education. Education of morality, humanity and values make life elevated. The feeling of ‘Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam’ will develop by the inculcation of these values, which will lead towards an elevated and united society.
Mount Abu, high in the Aravali Mountains of Rajasthan, provides an ideal location for reflection and contemplation and so it did to the founder members of the organization and was the major impetus for the original group’s move from Karachi in 1950. After a few years in a rented building, the community moved to its present site which is known as the Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya (Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University). The Brahma Kumaris spiritual headquarters is known as the Madhuban (‘Forest of Honey’) also.
Brahma Kumaris, officially known as ‘Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya’ is a worldwide spiritual movement dedicated to personal transformation and world renewal. Founded in 1936 in Hyderabad, Sindh (then a part of undivided India) by Dada Lekhraj (Prajapita Brahma), Brahma Kumaris has spread to over 137 countries in 5 continents of the world and has had an extensive impact on all sections of the society. It is working as an international NGO, associated with the United Nations Department of Public Relations. The organization is committed to help individuals transform themselves, based on the understanding of their true, spiritual identity, which transcends their mere material existence.
It supports the cultivation of a deep collective consciousness of peace and of the individual dignity of each soul. Being a women-led organization it is widely known as Brahma Kumaris. Even though the founding father of the organization was fondly known as Prajapita Brahma, the first Administrative Head was Mateshwari Jagadamba, fondly known as Mamma.
